David joins Evans, Elder, Brown & Seubert with more than 15 years experience as a real estate broker. Beginning as a residential broker, he soon found himself immersed in a unique practice that included residential and multi-family development projects, commercial sales, and leasing. University of Oregon campus/student housing is a specialty of his business.
Background and Experience
Born and raised in suburban Chicago, David graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a degree in economics in 1987. He moved to Eugene in 1989 and opened J. Sprat’s Delicatessen downtown. This 9-year restaurant experience taught him volumes about small business ownership and offered a valuable bird’s eye view into the heartbeat of Eugene’s business community.
David sold the restaurant and traded his apron for a real estate license in 2000.
He became a partner at Barnhart Associates Real Estate in 2004, and acquired full ownership in 2007. As Broker/Owner of the largest independent brokerage in Lane County, he managed a group of 30 brokers in addition to his own burgeoning residential and commercial practice. David closed the brokerage in 2015 to be able to focus solely on commercial real estate.
Seeking advanced education to better serve his client base, David earned the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 2009. David serves on the Oregon Real Estate Forms Committee. He has been actively involved with 4J Schools, community youth sports and ACS Relay for Life.
